Badgley Mischka AW13 Collection: A Breathtaking Display
I’ve always loved the Badgley Mischka collections and their campaign with the Olsen twins a few years back brought them back into focus for me. Edgy and creative the campaign combined BM’s signature old world glam with new age styling flair. I had the opportunity last year to go to their MBFW AW12 show in New York and the experience was like watching a small stage production or a dramatic piece of art unfold. Located in Lincoln Center but set in a backdrop of snowy Central Park, the catwalk glittered with the likeness of an iced over stream, as each model effortlessly made her way past the guests. Breathtaking and visually stunning, you can imagine my anticipation for their AW13 showcase.
In keeping with their theatrical flair, the AW13 collection was an eerily captivating display. Models materialised onto the catwalk amongst a fog of Hitchcock proportions. The inspired 50′s glam saw a return to the svelte pencil shirt, boleros, tweed suits, fur stalls, elbow length gloves and over the knee swing skirts. When it comes to luxe and vintage glam, Mark Badgley and James Mischka can do no wrong.
