Unfortunately this year I wasn’t able to get over to Sydney’s annual MBFWA event. However with live streaming and almost immediate image access I was still able to keep up with hub bub and all the amazing collections.
My gorgeously talented friend, New York fashion illustrator Meagan Morrison of Travel Write Draw and I decided to team up and collaborate on some fashion illos of my top 3 favourite looks. Meagan and I met in New York last year after I stumbled upon her amazing piece depicting one of my all time industry idols Kelly Cutrone. A couple of drinks later, some dinner and a bit of New York dancing in the rain and we were left with one awesome night out in the West Village and the beginning of a great friendship.
With her work credited in publications such as Marie Claire and DASH Magazine, having participated in various exhibitions around New York, collaborated with brands such as Urban Outfitters and Lord and Taylor aswell as being a resident runway illustrator for TIBI, Anna Sui and Ruffian, I was super lucky this busy lady is such a fan of our Australian fashion that she was able to squeeze in some time to produce these beautiful watercolours.
I’m so in love with the caliber of this year’s MBFW Aussie collections. Everything from elegantly edgy eveningwear, modern graphic, detailed shapes, romantic silhouettes and feminine flirtations were all represented in our own uniquely talented Australian aesthetic. Here are just a few of the many pieces I’d be more than happy to catwalk into my closet:
