It was like standing on the edge of the world. The sea was black, the sun was large and it felt like you could walk for miles on that water without being immersed. Little glittering specks of sunlight would light up as you walked and whilst you had two choices; be consumed by the swirling ink ocean or open up to the feathery sunlight, either way you were content to be teetering between two very powerful elements… and for those minutes as the sun went down, there was nothing else.
It’s these moments, if fleeting, that I remember the most when I travel. The warmth I felt in a Californian sunset, the smell of the dusty air driving the red dirt roads of northern West Australia, the cool round cobblestones I walked on in Locarno and the taste of crisp water after a day in Dubai heat. Take time to look a little closer, find the beauty in simplicity and detail, be passionate about creating your own unique sense memories and sometimes, just wander aimlessly to find them
I was able experience this amazing ocean play of light and dark in Santa Monica with jewels from Aussie boho boutique Regalia Store. Curated for the wanderer in all of us, you can view their full collection online here, otherwise click the links below for pieces from this story.
